“Who will be the lifeblood coursing through my veins?” The lyrics to The Alarm’s song “Strength” took on a whole new meaning after lead singer, Mike Peters, was diagnosed with cancer. Leukemia is one of the few cancers in which another human being is the missing link to survival. YOU could be the lifeblood running through someone veins by donating marrow or stem cells.
Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on finding matching donors who can save their life. Patients need donors who are a close genetic match. Even with a registry of millions, 6 out of 10 patients NEVER receive the lifesaving transplant they need. Donors of all ethnicities are needed if we are going to change this. At Love Hope Strength, and with our partners at Delete Blood Cancer, we have registered over 65,000 marrow donors at concerts and festivals around the globe resulting in over 1017 potentially life-saving matches for patients in need of transplants.
