You probably know Preston Hollow resident James Chippendale as the host of NBC 5?s “Last Call”, but he has several more titles to his name, including cancer survivor and philanthropist.
We featured Chippendale in our June 2009 issue as part of a fun cover story on neighborhood celebrities. Now, he’s appearing in the film, “More to Live For”, which screens at 7 p.m. Friday at Highland Park Village Theater as part of the Dallas International Film Festival. The film is directed by Noah Hutton and follows the stories of three people affected by cancer and their struggles to receive the bone marrow that would save them. Chippendale is one of those subjects.
When he heard about Winslet Seoighe an 18-month-old girl and bone marrow transplant recipient, he decided to use the film to raise funds and awareness about the cause. Admission to the screening is $30, and proceeds benefit the Children’s Organ Transplant Association.
After the screening, audience members can join the bone marrow transplant registry through Chippendale’s Love Hope Strength Foundation. RSVP to the event by emailing [email protected].
