Donations to Love Hope Strength

Mike Peters really was one in a million. If you’d like to celebrate Mike’s life through saving and changing the lives of others affected by cancer, please donate to Love Hope Strength so his mission can continue.

All donations given to Love Hope Strength in Mike’s memory will be match funded $ for $, £ for £ by the Beauchamp Family Foundation.

Your donations will make a difference to the lives of people close to you, as well as across the globe, thanks to the well-established partnerships that Love Hope Strength has with world-class institutions as well as local hospitals, and thanks to the programs Love Hope Strength will be developing to honour Mike’s memory and his wishes.

Thank you to everyone who has already chosen to remember Mike by supporting Love Hope Strength.

Donations will specifically support:

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, where Mike received treatment over the past year, and NHS Cancer Services in North Wales, where Mike received care, treatment and support for 30 years.

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). Love Hope Strength funds access to additional training and development opportunities for aspiring clinicians and support staff in hospitals and cancer agencies in under resourced communities, primarily in Africa and Asia.

DKMS and organisations that support DKMS’ work. This international blood cancer non profit and long time collaborator of ‘Get on the List’ and latterly the ‘One in a Million’ campaign, has played a key role in LHS’ donor drives which has seen 250,000 people added to the global stem cell registry, helping secure thousands of potential life-saving matches for patients worldwide.

Tumaini La Maisha. This is the organisation that runs children’s cancer provision in Dar es Salaam’s Muhimbili National Hospital, with its Love, Hope and Strength units, and which provides treatment and care across communities throughout Tanzania.

Love Hope Strength’s music and wellbeing programs, which are in development following discussions with delivery and advisory partners. Mike‘s phrase, ‘Music Will Keep Us Strong’ was never more heartfelt than during his time in hospital. Mike and Jules saw how spirits were lifted in hospital settings through access to music in waiting rooms and on wards. They felt their own spirits lift thanks to the networks they created outside of the hospital walls, and the healing that can come through sharing of experiences with others affected by cancer. And they understood how some people’s experiences with cancer were made significantly harder by financial challenges. Love Hope Strength in the US and UK are currently identifying how LHS can most effectively help people with cancer who would benefit from music and support networks. We are also assessing existing financial support schemes, for example for basic travel costs to treatment, for those with financial need.

Of course, we understand not everyone is able to donate at this time. If you can, please use your voice to continue to encourage people to sign up to the stem cell donor registry to become a potentially life saving donor for someone with blood cancer who needs a second chance of life. You can request a registration kit online through Love Hope Strength’s long-time partner DKMS.
