You can join John Oates, Donovan Frankenreiter, Fastball’s Miles Zuniga and Shawn Colvin as they join The Alarm’s Mike Peters in a special music-centric outdoor retreat in Hawaii to raise money to support the global fight against cancer.
Presented by the Love Hope Strength Foundation, “Kauai Rocks” takes place Aug. 18-27. Along with raising dollars for cancer research, this special event will also raise awareness about the “Get On The List” donor registration campaign. Kings Of Leon, Michael Franti, Brett Dennen, The Cure, The Allman Brothers Band and The Flaming Lips are among the acts whose concerts have turned up potentially life-saving marrow donors via the “Get On The List” program.
Kauai Rocks will present various daily events culminating in a special benefit concert/“Get On The List” marrow drive with proceeds benefiting community cancer care on the island.
If you can’t make it to Hawaii, then “Get On The List” just might come to your town in the form of bone marrow drives conducted in conjunction with the world’s largest marrow donor center, DKMS Americas. Look for their presence at this year’s Lollapalooza as well as Austin City Limits, New Jersey’s Union County Musicfest and concerts at such venues as Denver’s Pepsi Center and Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
But seriously, wouldn’t you love to go to Hawaii for this special music-fueled retreat for a very worthy cause? You can register for various Kauai Rocks activity packages. What’s more, a portion of the cost is tax deductible. Visit LoveHopeStrength.org for more information.
