New Events Bring Vitality to the Vail Valley
Jun 7, 2012
Among many other tasks, the Vail Valley Partnership works closely with entities throughout the Eagle River Valley to recruit groups, meetings & special events to our destination.
Tough Mudder this weekend in Beaver Creek is a perfect example of our sales and destination marketing efforts paying off in a big way – with 10,000 people per day expected to participate in this event during a non-peak weekend.
We’ve also recruited a number of new events for summer 2012, among them:
Vail Rocks!, July 13-14
Vail Rocks! is a musically charged hike up Vail Mountain to benefit the Love Hope Strength Foundation. Hike alongside musicians, cancer survivors and supporters with acoustic jams along the way. Special performances by G Love, Brett Dennen, Cy Curnin of the Fixx, Miles Zuniga of Fastball, School of Rock and more. This event is sure to become both a local favorite and a destination guest driver.
Avon’s Red, White & Brews, August 4
Leveraging Colorado’s craft brewing scene, this will be a ticketed event held in the Harry A. Nottingham Park including wine and beer tasting from brewers and wineries from throughout Colorado and beyond as well as offering a VIP section sampling spirits, food vendors, and entertainment.
GranFondo Cannondale Vail, August 19
Gran Fondo means “Big Ride” in Italian and this year, the “Big Ride” and Italian Festival comes to Vail, Colorado on August 19th. Gran Fondos are long distance, mass-participation cycling events – not races – that are immensely popular in Italy. Participation is open to recreational and competitive amateur cyclists, and tens of thousands of riders of all abilities participate.
Season of Song, September 20-23
Season of Song, an annual autumn event in Vail, Colorado, will debut September 20-23, 2012. Songwriters, musicians, industry insiders and music enthusiasts will gather to be inspired, learn and grow, network and connect.
The days will be filled with break out groups and Q & A sessions with industry experts and successful songwriters giving an in-depth look at how songs can changes lives. You’ll hear the back-stories behind some of the biggest hit songs ever written directly from the songwriters themselves.
Networking opportunities abound when we all come together for the daily mix. Enjoy live music, great food and keynote speakers in a beautiful afternoon outdoor setting.
Tour of Vail Cycling Final, September 28-20
2012 USA CRITS Championship Series are scheduled for Vail, Colorado on September 30, 2012.
Now in its fifth year, the USA CRITS Championship Series is the premiere cycling series in the United States. USA CRITS was developed to feature criterion riders and to offer venues, teams and riders the ability to excel in a unique discipline of cycling.
Because criterions are historically run on short laps through city streets, they offer spectators the opportunity to watch Olympians and world and national champions up close as they ride at top speeds for up to two hours.
These events, added to the already robust summer event calendar, give guests and locals even more reason to come to town and provide ambient entertainment and activities, thus increasing our guest satisfaction and helping reinforce our brand identity during the non-ski months.
