Take part in Rock The Skyline 2015 with Love Hope Strength and Delete Blood Cancer and bring hope for many people living with cancer today.
Walkers slow and fast, young and old who take part in ‘Rock The Skyline 2015’ in Jersey City, NJ will join an extraordinary ‘Walk of Hope’ along the Hudson River Walkway from the beach at Newport Green Park to the acoustic concert stage at the J. Owen Grundy Park Pier, Exchange Place and experience the breathtaking vista of the entire Manhattan Skyline dominating the horizon as far as the eye can see.
Wear your favourite trainers or walking boots; bring your sandwiches and guitar, sunscreen and a crowd of friends and join the ‘Walk of Hope’ – a symbolic two mile hike along the banks of the Hudson river through Jersey City with an emotional ‘Festival of Love’ at Newport Park to honour loved ones locked in the daily struggle with cancer or to remember those who will never be forgotten and whose names will be forever enshrined on the prayer flags that will be carried with us along the way. Our destination will be the outdoor ‘Strength Stage’ located at the end of the J. Owen Grundy Park Pier for an acoustic concert hosted by Mike Peters of The Alarm and many Love Hope Strength supporting artists set against a backdrop dominated by the newly built One World Trade Center rising high above the incomparable Manhattan skyline.
An all event long LHS donor drive will be open at the pier to register as many people as possible to the international marrow registry and further the Love Hope Strength / Delete Blood Cancer mission of saving lives.
Mike Peters (Love Hope Strength founder and lead singer of Welsh rock band The Alarm), conceived the idea for Rock The Skyline after chancing upon this incredible walk whilst staying at Jersey City in 2015. “It’s one of the most spectacular paths I have ever discovered in the many years I have travelled to the metropolitan area” said Peters. “I would like to encourage anyone who cares for the life of others to join me and my family, friends and Alarm fans, local businesses, healthcare staff and cancer patients to come together and support our mission of saving lives. Love Hope Strength in partnership with Delete Blood Cancer has just registered our 100,000th person to the international registry which has become the source of over 1700 potentially lifesaving matches for people who like me, suffer from blood cancer and need a match to have a second chance at life.”
