Christmas is a time of joyful celebration, and to mark this special time of the year, we have some wonderful news to share with you all. The Beauchamp Family Foundation will match every donation to Love Hope Strength (the Foundations in the U.K. and the USA) from now until World Cancer Day on February 4th, 2025.
Whether you donate in lieu of giving Christmas cards, as Rick and Mandy Warrilow in Lincolnshire have recently done, or if you organise your own fundraiser in January, as Natalie Emus in Cambridgeshire is doing with a walk every day of the month, your donations to Love Hope Strength will be matched $1 for $1, £1 for £1.
All your donations and fundraising efforts will support Love Hope Strength’s One in a Million campaign which aims to encourage more people to register as potentially life saving stem cell donors and help people affected by blood cancers, funding the fantastic work in hospitals like the Christie in Manchester and with our partners like the international blood cancer organisation, DKMS.
We know all too well that many families will be feeling a strain this year. There’ll be families across the world missing loved ones or caring for those who are too unwell to enjoy this time, and there’ll be many families that are facing uncertain futures. We hope, even with the challenges everyone is facing, you’re able to feel some of the seasonal sparkle by sharing treasured memories with your family or friends, or by making more memories with those close to you.
Our own Christmas week is packed with visits to hospitals in North Wales and Manchester, but we’re also making plans to ensure it’s filled with fun. We’re only able to do this thanks to the love and support we’ve received from family, friends and complete strangers, and because of the unbelievable care and treatment Mike has received over the past nine months. Despite an uncertain future, we are lucky. We are hopeful, we are feeling strong, and we are immensely thankful.
Our thoughts this Christmas are with the thousands of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder who need a stem cell transplant in order to survive, and are searching for a life saving stem cell match. We encourage you to talk about the stem cell donor registry this Christmas with your loved ones. Your loved one could be someone’s one in a million.
If you’re able to, please do make a plan to donate to the Love Hope Strength Foundation this festive period, or to fundraise in the New Year. For more information about the stem cell donor registry and how to support Love Hope Strength, please go to the Love Hope Strength website.
Thank you again for your support.
Enjoy the holiday season everyone, and a very happy Christmas to all who celebrate,
Mike and Jules Peters
