Every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. In the UK, over 2,000 people with a blood cancer or blood disorder need a stem cell transplant every year in order to survive.
70% of people who need a stem cell transplant are dependent on a stranger who is a stem cell match and who has registered as a potential stem cell donor.
Currently, only 60% of patients who need one will find a matching stem cell donor, making the need for new donors critical.
You could save a stranger’s life, but you need to be signed up to the stem cell registry to do so.
