THE FIXX RELEASE “MOVING MOUNTAINS” WITH LOVE HOPE STRENGTH

INSPIRED AT THE BASE OF MT. EVEREST, ROCKERS PREMIER NEW SINGLE TO BENEFIT ROCK ‘N ROLL CANCER FOUNDATION – PROCEEDS TO HELP SAVE LIVES, ONE CONCERT AT A TIME.

June 3, 2011 – On the eve of forthcoming album Beautiful Friction, due out later this year, The Fixx is releasing a stand-alone single, “Moving Mountains” in support of the world’s leading rock and roll cancer foundation, Love Hope Strength (LHS).

“Moving Mountains” was first written as an acoustic ballad by band mates Cy Curnin and Jamie West-Oram during a music-fueled LHS pilgrimage to the top of Kala Patthar at Mt Everest; a trip which garnered international headlines, broke a record for highest concert performed on land, and generated funds to purchase Nepal its first mammography and brachytherapy machines; crucial equipment for the detection and treatment of cancer.

The pair later perfected the chilling, inspirational and honest rock ballad with Fixx band mates Rupert Greenall, Dan K. Brown and Adam Woods in a single produced and mixed by Nick Jackson. Curnin flexes his lyrical prowess to sing about the range of human emotions he and the other 38 climbers, including Alarm front man Mike Peters, Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom and Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, experienced during their ascent of the world’s tallest mountain. Curnin has since participated in numerous Love Hope Strength pilgrimages, including climbs to the top of Machu Picchu, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and Pikes Peak.

“When we set off to climb to base camp I had no idea that my life would be fundamentally changed forever,” said Cy Curnin, lead singer of The Fixx. “I returned feeling, oh, so small and very light.”

“Moving Mountains” can be downloaded exclusively by going to the Love Hope Strength Foundation website, with all proceeds going directly to LHS. The Love Hope Strength Foundation, whose global efforts to save lives has brought critical funding, material support and awareness to cancer initiatives to places such as Peru, Tanzania, and Nepal, will use all proceeds generated from the single to support bone marrow donor drives at concerts and festivals around the world.

In less than two years, the Love Hope Strength Foundation has signed 10,000 of people to the bone marrow donor registry and generated 85 potentially lifesaving matches.
