The Covid-19 pandemic has hit hard at the children’s cancer unit at the (LHS Supported) Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar Es Salaam, which relies on charitable support to care for and treat the thousands of children across Tanzania who are diagnosed with cancer every year.
Despite the especially difficult year, the patients and committed staff at the Upendo (Love) and Tumaini (Hope) wards and Ujasiri Hostel (Strength) had fun earlier this month when they sang ‘Love Hope Strength’ to celebrate 10 years since the children’s cancer unit was established. The group in Tanzania, who sang in Swahili and English, were supported by Mike Peters in Wales and Chris Fish, the Cellist from the acclaimed Hamilton theatre production in London.

The team at the children’s cancer unit at the Muhimbili National Hospital relied on the support of the Love Hope Strength Foundation to help save lives when it first established the dedicated children’s cancer unit a decade ago, and once again we are needed. Lives can be saved, with all of our help.

This Giving Tuesday, all donations to the Love Hope Strength Foundation will support the lifesaving work at the children’s cancer unit at the Muhimbili National Hospital. We know people close to home living with cancer need help, and Love Hope Strength continues to support cancer centres close to home, too, but right now, these wonderful children really need your help.

Please donate via Facebook, which is doubling all donations today on Giving Tuesday, or donate here now to make a real difference for the children with cancer being treated by the wonderful clinical team at the children’s cancer unit at the Muhimbili National Hospital:
